The St Clair Kennel Club held their Annual Dog Shows September 15th, 16th, and 17th at the Goodells County Park.
As early as Thursday, RVs and motorhomes started entering the park in anticipation of the weekend shows.
On Friday, The Great Lakes Toy Club held their specialty featuring the Toy breeds. The Fort Detroit Golden Retriever Club held a Confirmation and Obedience Trial. The Pomeranian Club of Michigan also held their specialty show.
Saturday and Sunday became even busier, as the St Clair Kennel Club showcased their annual All Breed Dog Shows and Obedience Trials. Over 700 dogs of numerous breeds competed each day for championship points in their individual breeds. The Best of Breed Winners went on to compete in the seven groups: Sporting, Hounds, Working, Terriers, Toys, Non-Sporting, and Herding. The winner of each group re-entered the ring to compete for Reserve Best in Show and the coveted Best in Show.
On Saturday, once again, the Pomeranian Club of Michigan held another specialty on Saturday, and for the first time The Motor Cities Fox Terrier FastCAT was run.
Junior Showmanship and AKC National Owner-handled Series competed both days. For youngsters, there were Pee Wee classes!
In addition to everything else going on, AKC Temperament Tests were run for anyone who wanted to enter their dog. Spectators were welcome to roam the showgrounds and watch all of the activities.
Under the skillful hand of Show Chairman, Richard Lawless, the shows were run smoothly, and the club enjoyed another year of successful shows.
