Snowmobile crash injures one

A 52-year old man was injured following a snowmobile crash Sunday afternoon near Applegate.

Sanilac County Sheriff Sergeant Matt Armstrong says central dispatch received a call shortly before 2:00 p.m. Sunday regarding a snowmobile crash on Derby Road near State Road in Sanilac Township.

Investigation revealed that the man from Applegate was riding a 1998 Arctic Cat snowmobile on the south side of Derby Road and attempted to cross the road and enter a field on the north side. The driver then lost control and rolled his snowmobile several times before being thrown from the vehicle.

The driver was taken to Port Huron McLaren Hospital for treatment of injuries. He was wearing his helmet.

Sanilac EMS assisted at the scene.
