(SANILAC COUNTY) – A Sandusky student’s courage to step up in a time of need has earned her recognition.

On Monday, high school Principal Steve Carlson was proud to present SHS junior Jenna Steeb with a medal and certificate of recognition from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Steeb was a member of the Sandusky girl’s varsity basketball team.

The recognition from DAR was due to Jenna stepping up to sing the National Anthem at a basketball game this winter when the CD normally used wouldn’t play over the sound system.

Jenna’s impromptu rendition was inspired and patriotic, and led to her singing the National Anthem several more times prior to home basketball games throughout the remainder of the girls’ and boys’ basketball seasons.
