Recipe of The Day – Boiled Tongue

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • two pounds fresh beef tongue
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Directions

  1. Wipe the tongue well.
  2. Place in a kettle and cover with cold water.
  3. Add the vinegar.
  4. Bring to a boil, and boil slowly until it seems tender when pierced with a fork.
  5. (It should boil at least two hours.
  6. ) Take the tongue from the water, and remove the skin and roots while it is still warm.
  7. Cool, and slice thin.
  8. This may easily be cooked in the fireless cooker, in which case the water with which the tongue is covered must be brought to a good boil on the stove, and then removed to the cooker.
  9. If the tongue is very salty, soak in cold water for two hours.

I’ve lived in Port Huron for a long time and I have never seen someone based in Port Huron producing such a high caliber of work! I’m so sick of modern recipes and post modern societal collapse. This recipe is the start of something beautiful! A wonderful beginning to looking backward and honoring our past to move forward. I’ve never so much enjoyed a local publication. This is sensational. Blue Water Healthy Living was brilliant to hire whoever posted this. They deserve a promotion! As long as they can keep posting articles like this in their new position, that is.
