Spring is “Just around the Corner.”
The great Prognosticator made the pronouncement for the 64th year in Wiarton, Ontario during a ceremony commemorating the occasion.
It was a brief appearance on video because of the current lockdown in Ontario, caused by Covid. He was interviewed by the daughter of his creator, Mac MacKenzie.

Wiarton Willie was introduced to the Canadian Public in 1957, and has been the major spokesperson for all the Groundhogs in Canada. He lives in Wiarton, halfway up the Bruce Penninsula.
Other Canadian Groundhogs include Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia, Mud Lake Murray in Huronia, and February Fred in Lake Cowichan British Columbia. Mind you, we must also pay tribute to Punxsutawney Phil….the Great Granddaddy of them all.
I do believe it was him who started what has become know to all as Groundhog Day.
