Pop-UP Shop!

Teen girls will be selling products made with repurposed materials Sat., December 3 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

By A Beautiful Me

Port Huron, MI – The Closet by A Beautiful Me is more than a dress store. This social enterprise, retail space opened January 2019 with the intention to provide a missing need of providing training in business, philanthropy and entrepreneurial skills to teen girls. 100% of the revenue of dress sales goes toward this training program.

Some of the new and gently worn dress donations cannot be sold. These dresses are set aside to be repurposed. Teen girls in our 3rd tier certification program (emerge360 301) learn ironing and basic sewing skills and cut-up dresses to use the material. They are building their confidence with a new skill and creating two products to sell.

“Scrunchies have made a return to the hair scene and this is the first product teens are taught to sew,” states A Beautiful Me Executive Director, Karen Palka. “Scrunchies have 10 steps and acclimate a new sewer to the straight stitch.”
