Original 1968 Funny Girl Movie at Sperry’s Moviehouse

Woman’s Life Chapter 820 is hosting a fun afternoon on Saturday, February 24, with the classic musical “Funny Girl” along with unlimited popcorn and pop for ONLY $25 at Sperry’s Moviehouse, 301 Huron Ave. in Port Huron, Michigan. Doors open at 1:30 pm and movie begins at 2:00 pm. All revenue will be donated to A Beautiful Me along with a match from Woman’s Life Insurance Society for the first $500 raised.

Fifty years ago, Barbra Streisand gathered accolades for her role as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl”. The movie received eight Academy Award nominations and Barbra Streisand won the best actress Oscar in a tie with Katharine Hepburn. Lauren Bacall raved after attending the opening night in 1968, “I absolutely saw the best thing I ever saw in my life in that girl. She can act. She can sing. She has an electric personality. Which is what makes a star.”
