“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”
One of the most important doctrines in the Scriptures for the believer to settle in their heart so that they can become productive in their walk with Christ is eternal security. Once a person gets saved, they must never forget that they are always saved. You can’t be saved and then lose it because that is saying that God’s blood is not powerful enough to save you and keep you eternally. God promised that when a person gets saved that He gives them eternal life and not conditional life. God’s promise of eternal life is not conditioned on how you feel, but it is predicated on the fact that He promised that once He saved you that you would be saved forever. According to Ephesians 1, there are several more things that God shows why you are saved eternally.
First, you are saved eternally because He chose you. He chose you because you accepted His plan for salvation. Please understand that everyone is chosen, but some reject Him; therefore, they never get to enjoy the benefits of being chosen by God. When God says in 2 Peter 3:9 that He is “not willing that any should perish,” He is showing that everyone is chosen, but some choose to reject Him.

Second, according to verse 5, you are saved eternally because He predestinated you. Being predestinated does not mean that God chooses some to be saved and others not to be saved, but it means that He predestinated a plan for you to be saved and you accepted that predestinated plan. Every person who accepts the predestinated plan can be confident that they are saved because His plan promises that He eternally saves whoever accepts His predestinated plan.
Third, verse 5 shows that you are eternally saved because you are adopted. The adopted child has more rights than the natural-born child. God is showing the child of God that legally you cannot lose your salvation because He adopted you once you accepted His plan of salvation.
Fourth, verse 6 shows that you are eternally saved because He accepted you. You may wonder how we know that He accepts our decision to receive Him as Saviour, and the answer to that is because He adopted you when you chose His predestinated plan resulting in Him accepting you as His own. God’s acceptance of you is not dependent upon how good you are, but it is dependent upon His eternal Word.
Fifth, verse 7 shows that you are eternally saved because He redeemed you. You are redeemed, not with earthly goods, but you are redeemed through the blood of Christ. It is Christ’s blood that atones for your sins, and God the Father accepts Christ’s blood’s payment for all sins.
Sixth, verse 13 shows that you are eternally saved because the Holy Spirit seals your salvation. How does the Holy Spirit seal your salvation? He seals it by moving into your body and making it the temple where He dwells. This means that the Holy Spirit would have to go to Hell if you lost your salvation, which is NOT going to happen.
My friend, God’s promise of an eternal salvation is backed up and validated many times in the Scriptures. Stop listening to the whispers of sin and Satan which causes you to doubt, and trust God’s eternal Word which promises that you are saved eternally.
