US to require all truck driving tests occur in English, crackdown on fraudulent schools

WASHINGTON, Feb 20 (Reuters) – The U.S. Transportation Department said Friday it will issue new rules requiring all commercial truck driver testing to take place in English and vowed a crackdown on fraudulent commercial driver training schools and companies.

USDOT plans to end self-certification for commercial truck driving schools after it uncovered hundreds of programs that did not meet legal requirements. The Trump administration has taken a series of steps to address concerns about foreign truck drivers who do not speak English.
