“First off, I’d like to thank Coach Luke Fickell, Coach Jordan Reid, and the entire Wisconsin staff for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love at the highest level,” Berry-Johnson wrote on X. “Thank you to all my friends and teammates at Wisconsin for the memories, lessons, and experiences in Madison, they’ll stay with me forever. After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal to continue my education and football career, with 3 remaining years of eligibility.”

The wide receiver joined the program in the class of 2024 as a three-star recruit, ranked No. 768 overall, No. 105 at his position, and No. 18 in the state of Illinois. He was the only wideout in a Wisconsin recruiting class that finished the cycle ranked No. 23 in the nation.

Berry-Johnson appeared in four games over two seasons with the program, three as a true freshman in 2024 and one as a redshirt freshman in 2025. He’ll enter the portal when it officially opens on Jan. 2 with three years of eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin’s offense is set for a major offseason overhaul after nearly a college football-worst output in 2025 (12.8 points per game, ranked No. 135 of 136 Football Bowl Subdivision programs). Much of that overhaul, including at quarterback, will come via the transfer portal.

Stay tuned throughout the winter as we follow a transfer cycle that is critical to Luke Fickell’s future as Wisconsin’s head coach.
