MANITOWOC – Now you can enjoy a Hot Daugs restaurant specialty hot dog without leaving the couch.
The retro-themed hot dog shop, 316 N. Eighth St. in downtown Manitowoc, offers delivery services through third-party Uber Eats and Door Dash. They also cater birthday parties, corporate or staff appreciation events, or even late-night wedding reception snacks.
Amber Daugs, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Brad, told the Herald Times Reporter things at the shop are going well. Hot Daugs opened in April.
“We’re really having a lot of fun,” she said. “This has been a dream of my husband’s, and it’s fun to see that coming true.”
Amber Daugs is also CEO of the Grow It Forward food pantry, and she said she sees folks from her non-profit life coming in to support the hot dog shop.
“We’re so grateful to the whole community. We’re grateful to see all the love people have been showing,” she said.
Hot Daugs is a unique, retro-themed hot dog house, which combines the charm of gourmet hot dogs, vinyl records and vintage video games, “catering to music lovers and those who appreciate a nostalgic atmosphere,” according to the business’s Facebook page.
The restaurant closed briefly in May after Brad Daugs suffered a health emergency.
Amber Daugs said Brad’s health is doing well and they’ve hired staff to help at the restaurant. She said the couple usually works together on Saturdays.
“It’s such a blast,” she said.
