Much of Brewers-Cubs pregame segment on TBS centers around wind at Wrigley

Much of the Milwaukee Brewers-Chicago Cubs Game 3 segment on the TBS pregame show Oct. 8 had to do with a very familiar theme in Chicago.

The wind.

With a stiff breeze blowing in at Wrigley Field before the game began, field reporter Lauren Jbara thought it could favor Cubs starter Jamison Taillon as the veteran righthander is known as a flyball pitcher. Jbara interviewed Brewers second baseman Brice Turang and asked if he would change his approach with the wind favoring the pitchers.

“I’m trying to hit line drives anyway, I’m not trying to hit these massive home runs,” Turang said. “Balls hit in the air could be outs so when you hit them you got to really get them. Go out there and hit line drives.”

The wind didn’t seem to bother Michael Busch, who hit a leadoff home run for the Cubs in the first inning.

Jabara also talked about Brewers starter Quinn Priester growing up a Cubs fan in suburban Chicago.

TBS analyst Pedro Martinez thought the conditions would favor Quinn Priester because he is a ground ball pitcher, but was worried that Priester hadn’t pitched since Sept. 26.

“I hope the time he’s had without pitching doesn’t affect him because one thing he has is pitchability,” Martinez said. “He knows how to get the feel for pitches and spin the baseball, in and out and keep it on the ground.”

However, the home run ball and a pair of walks made Priester’s postseason debut a short one. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning and was charged with four runs.
