The Green Bay Packers locker room was naturally in a joyous mood after beating the Chicago Bears, 28-21, and moving into first place in the NFC North.
No one more than Matt LaFleur and maybe Bo Melton.
“That was a hell of a team win,” a fired up LaFleur said to open his remarks to the team, now the second seed in the NFC with four games left in the season. “It’s never easy in this league. You can’t take that for granted.
“It was awesome.”

He then highlighted several players who had standout performances:
Watson received one of the two games balls from LaFleur.
The Packers’ fourth-year receiver then provided some “real talk.”
“You all know what happened the last time we played these boys,” Watson said, referring to the torn ACL that he suffered at Lambeau Field on Jan. 5, 2025, in the 2024 regular season finale against the same Bears.
Watson said he tried not to think about that and his teammates “helped me do that.”
“It meant a lot to me to go out there,” Watson said, while adding he’s thankful to come out of the game healthy and “happy” to get the victory.
The Packers can thank Nixon in part for that.
While the game didn’t begin great by any means for the cornerback Nixon [he had two penalties on one drive in the second quarter and got chewed out by LaFleur for it], he came clutch.
His interception of Williams in the end zone with 27 seconds left while defending Cole Kmet sealed the win.
“It’s not always how you start, there was some adversity ‘2’ ‘5’ was there not in the first half?”” LaFleur said to the group while referencing Nixon and his jersey number. “But you came through.”
Nixon responded: “Appreciate, y’all boys. I had two bad penalties early on. You all kept me in the game and kept my focus. I appreciate you all.”
