MANITOWOC – The Manitowoc Police and Fire Commission has selected Benjamin Kraynek as the next fire chief for the City of Manitowoc.
The commission voted March 10 to appoint Kraynek, who currently serves as assistant chief with the Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department.
Leadership transition planned for late May
Kraynek will take over the role following the retirement of current Fire Chief Todd Blaser on May 29.
Blaser is concluding a 17-year tenure marked by a focus on public safety, leadership development and community service, a news release said.
Kraynek is scheduled to step into the position May 30.
Extensive experience with Manitowoc Fire Rescue
Kraynek brings 25 years of experience with the department. His education includes degrees in fire protection, fire administration and public administration, along with multiple professional certifications.
Commission President Michael Wellner said Kraynek has earned the confidence of both colleagues and commissioners and is well prepared to lead the department into the future.
