The first round of the WIAA boys basketball playoffs got underway on Tuesday, March 3.
There were 11 Oshkosh, Fond du Lac area teams in action with 8 moving onto the next round. The second round is on Friday, March 6.
Here’s a look at how area teams did and what their second-round matchups are.
Division 1
Division 3
Winneconne 78, Chilton 35
Winneconne picked up a first-round win at home. Brody Schaffer led the way with 21 points, six steals and four rebounds. Parker Ingles finished with 19 points and Drew Lenz had 14.
In the second round, No. 5 seed Winneconne will play at No. 4 seed Little Chute at 7 p.m.
Campbellsport 75, North Fond du Lac 43
Campbellsport defended its home floor with a win against Flyway Conference opponent, North Fond du Lac. Campbellsport’s Trent Schladweiler had 21 points and North Fond du Lac’s Logan Puddy had 13.
North Fond du Lac ended its season with a 6-19 record and No. 7 Campbellsport will play at No. 2 Berlin at 7 p.m.
Ripon 71, Two Rivers 52
Ripon, a No. 8 seed moves on and will play at No. 1 seed Brillion at 7 p.m.
Evansville 71, Mayville 61
Mayville lost its first-round matchup and ended its season with a 13-10 record.
Turner 75, Waupun 56
Waupun took a loss in the first round and ended its season with a 2-22 record.
Division 4
Laconia 62, Valley Christian 45
Laconia got a home win against Valley Christian. Laconia was led by Cash Farrell who finished with 22 points, six steals, six assists and five rebounds. Beckett Weisgerber, Asher Morgan and Tillman Madigan all had 11 points for Laconia. Valley Christian was led by Matthias Behling who finished with 18 points.
Valley Christian finished its season with a 62-45 and No. 6 Laconia will play at No. 3 Roncalli at 7 p.m.
Omro 85, New Holstein 53
Omro defended its home floor and got a postseason win. It will hit the road and play at No. 2 Manitowoc Lutheran.
St. Mary’s Springs 70, Valders 61
St. Mary’s Springs extended its season with a home postseason win. Joey Coon and Bently Kutz each scored 14 points for St. Mary’s Springs.
In the second round, No. 8 seed St. Mary’s Springs will play at No. 1 Howards Grove.
Division 5
Lourdes Academy 66, Niagara 44
Lourdes Academy moved on with a win at home. Henry Achterberg led Lourdes Academy with 16 points and Brady Bauer had 12 points.
In the second round, No. 8 seed Lourdes Academy will play at No. 1 Reedsville at 7 p.m.
Central Wisconsin Christian 76, Princeton/Green Lake 37
Central Wisconsin Christian, a No. 4 seed defended its home floor and moved onto the second round where it will host No. 5 Palmyra-Eagle.
