A Third Ward restaurant has reopened after a one-day closure when a health inspection located cockroaches in the basement and kitchen.
Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria, 249 N. Water St., temporarily closed around 2 p.m. March 2 after the City of Milwaukee Health Department conducted an inspection based on a complaint, according to the restaurant and the health department.
Inspectors located several dead cockroaches in a sump pump room in basement prep area, as well as one dead roach and potentially a live roach in the main kitchen, according to the health department.
At the health inspectors’ follow-up inspection at Blue Bat on March 3, they found no evidence of new pest activity. Blue Bat reopened around 11 a.m. that day.
“On Monday, a City of Milwaukee health inspection found several matters requiring temporary closure of our doors to address facility maintenance. We immediately worked to resolve those issues and were approved this morning by the health department to re-open,” Blue Bat spokesperson Chris Adams said in a statement. “We are already welcoming our guests back and appreciate the continued support of our community.”
