Until Sunday.

And his coach even participated during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 27-22 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Rodgers just turned 42 years old and is in his 21st season in the NFL, but for a moment it felt like 2011 all over again:

Aaron Rodgers touchdown celebration vs Ravens

With his Pittsburgh Steelers at the 1-yard line on their first drive of the game, Rodgers faked a handoff to running back Jaylen Warren before surveying the end zone as he backed up.

After the Ravens bit on the fake up the middle and to the right, there was only green grass to Rodgers’ left. He took off running from near the 10-yard line.

The defense finally realized the situation but it was too late. Rodgers was on his way to the end zone and even at 42, he had enough wheels to get there.

Rodgers raised the ball up in his right hand before crossing the goal line. A fired up Rodgers then emphatically executed his celebration. And even head coach Mike Tomlin did it from the sideline.

The rushing touchdown was part of a productive day for Rodgers in a much-needed win for the Steelers, who improved to 7-6 and regained first place in the AFC North. He finished 23 of 34 for 284 yards and a passing touchdown.

Aaron Rodgers celebration

Rodgers’ belt celebration, also known as the discount double check, became the quarterback’s go-to move after big plays or touchdowns throughout his career with the Packers (2005-2022).

The name comes from his longtime partnership with State Farm Insurance, which went from 2011-23.

He was in multiple commercials with the company over the years, including with former teammate Clay Matthews.

It was so well known and respected throughout the NFL that some opponents would be brave enough to do their own version of the celebration after they sacked him.

Aaron Rodgers age: How old is Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers is turning back the clock in his first game since turning 42. In addition to the rushing touchdown, he evaded a sack in the first half showing elusiveness that he hasn’t displayed of late.

Aaron Rodgers injury

Rodgers is the oldest player in the NFL and banged up, but that wouldn’t keep him from the field these days in what could be his last season.

He’s playing with a fractured wrist, an injury that he suffered three weeks ago.

The quarterback missed a game before returning last week. A hard hit in the Steelers’ game against the Bills on Nov. 30 also injured his nose.
