The Green Bay Packers acquired All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons in a historic trade with the Dallas Cowboys last week.
You’ve all heard this stat by now: Parsons and former Packers defensive end Reggie White are the only players in NFL history to produce at least 12 sacks during each of their first four NFL seasons. Parsons produced 13.0 sacks as a rookie in 2021, 13.5 sacks in 2022, a career-high 14.0 sacks in 2023 and 12.0 sacks in just 13 games in 2024.

1. Pressure king
According to Next Gen Stats, Parsons leads the NFL in total pressures (335) and pressure rate (21.1 percent) since entering the NFL in 2021. He is averaging almost 84 pressures a season, and he is providing a quarterback pressure on roughly one out of every five pass-rushing snaps for his career. His consistency is remarkable — Parsons has created at least 70 pressures and a pressure rate over 18 percent during all four of his NFL seasons. Pro Football Focus also has Parsons with the highest pressure rate since entering the NFL in 2021.
2. Legendary first four seasons
Parsons has created one of the most productive four-year stretches to start a career in NFL history. Between 2021 and 2024, Parsons produced 52.5 sacks, 63 tackles for loss and 112 quarterback hits. All-time, he ranks sixth in sacks, seventh in tackles for loss and second in quarterback hits during a player’s first four seasons — although sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits have only been tracked officially for a few decades. Overall, Parsons ranks fifth in sacks, tackles for loss and quarterback hits among all NFL players since 2021. Statistically speaking, he is on a Hall of Fame trajectory after only four seasons.
3. Master of the quick pressure
According to NFL Pro, Parsons ranks second among NFL players with 175 “quick” pressures and first in quick pressures per game since 2021. A quick pressure is described as any pressure occurring under 2.5 seconds after the ball was snapped. It can be argued that a quick pressure is the gold standard of disruption — a quick pressure assumes an immediate win against a blocker and a pressured quarterback before the designed play even has time to develop. Parsons led the NFL in quick pressures in both 2022 and 2023. He played only 13 games last season but still ranked third.
4. Master of the early down pressure
Pass-rushers make their money on third down and other obvious passing downs. But Parsons can wreck any passing play at any time. Per ESPN’s Ben Solak, Parsons leads all pass-rushers with a 15.3 percent pressure rate on first and second down since 2021. The next closest player is Trey Hendrickson at 11.8 percent. In a passing-dominated league, the ability to create pressure regardless of down or situation is invaluable. Playcallers will think twice about dialing up a play-action pass or a long-developing concept on early downs with Parsons lurking.
5. Impact king
Here’s maybe the most telling stat on Parsons: Between 2021 and 2024, the Cowboys were the BEST defense in the NFL by Expected Points Added (EPA) per play with Parsons on the field and the WORST defense in the NFL by EPA per play when he was off the field, per Bill Barnwell of ESPN. When he was hurt or not on the field, the Cowboys dropped all the way to last. This is the very definition of game-changing, and highlights how impactful the game’s elite players are to relative outcomes.
