Curling championships
The Stevens Point Curling Club and Wisconsin State Curling Association will host the 2026 Wisconsin State Championship Playdowns from noon Jan. 15 through noon Jan. 18 at 1515 Maple Drive in Plover. The tournament is organized by WSCA and will determine the top curling teams in the state through pool play followed by bracket play for men’s and women’s teams. The top teams will then represent the state at the 2026 Club National championship at Chaska Curling Center in March. Young Composer Project 2026 Showcase
The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra will host Very Young Composer Project 2026 Showcase Celebration at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Noel Fine Arts Center at 1800 Portage St. in Stevens Point. Silent Sunday
Great Northern Distilling will host Silent Sunday at Great Northern Distilling from 3-6 p.m. Jan. 18 at 1011 Second St. in Stevens Point. Guests can spend quiet time at the distillery reading, working, coloring, studying, crocheting, writing, playing a quiet game on their phones or anything else quietly. Public WiFi will be available, as well as a limited bar and food menu, as the bartenders will not shake or stir drinks to keep the atmosphere quiet.
