Incumbents in Wichita County government carried the day in the Republican Party Primary Tuesday.
No Democrats were on the local ballots.
Two candidates for Wichita County Judge will have to stay on the campaign trail a few more weeks because nobody was a majority winner in the three-person race.
Rick Hatcher and Mark Dora will face off in a runoff election on May 26 to fill the post that Jim Johnson is vacating. Dawn M. Ferrell came in third and is out of the race. Early voting for primary runoff races will be May 18-26.
Sheriff William Rutledge won handily over Clay County deputy William Norris III to complete the term of David Duke, who left the post in August 2025.
County Treasurer Stephen Jones held off a challenge by Joe B Lemond, security director and retired Wichita Falls police officer.
Longtime Precinct 4 Commissioner Jeff Watts won another term over a challenge from Aaron K. Smith, an Iowa Park heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor.
