Wichita Falls and North Texas will have their first shot at some serious winter weather this weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region Tuesday afternoon.

“Heavy mixed precipitation possible,” NWS said. “Total snow accumulations of 4 or more inches are likely across parts of Oklahoma and north Texas. A glaze of ice up to two tenths of an inch is possible.”
The weather service said winds could gust as high as 35 mph on Friday. Additionally, dangerously cold wind chills are expected Friday night through Sunday morning.
“Travel could be very difficult,” NWS said.
The National Weather Service predicts rain and snow showers could begin Friday afternoon, Jan. 23 and turn to a mixture of snow and sleet Friday night. The overnight low Friday is forecasted to be 16 degrees.
NWS said snow and sleet will continue through Saturday and Saturday night before sunshine returns on Sunday. The overnight low Saturday night is predicted to be 8 degrees.
