After months that included Super Bowl celebrations, free-agent signings, draft picks and so much more, it’s almost time for football games again. Or, at least the announcement of football games.
In the lead-up to its official schedule release, the NFL has been drumming up interest in the occasion by strategically leaking some games that will take place throughout next season.
Monday saw the announcement of some key games, including the season opener, the Black Friday game, a Saturday doubleheader and a Christmas Day showcase. Tuesday had the international game slate unveiling.
When is the NFL 2025 schedule release date?
Although leaks have been dropped throughout the first half of the week, the NFL’s official release is set for 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday. The remainder of the 272 regular-season games will be revealed at that time.
It won’t be long before the calendar is filled up.

Dallas Cowboys to play Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving
The NFL has confirmed the Dallas Cowboys will host the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day.

Philadelphia Eagles to host Dallas Cowboys in 2025 season opener
The NFL season opener is set for 2025. The reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles will host their divisional rival, the Cowboys, on Thursday, Sept. 4 to kickstart the 2025 campaign. NBC — which announced the matchup on its “TODAY” show — will broadcast the game as part of its “Sunday Night Football” package, despite the game being played on a Thursday.
It marks the 20th time since 2004 that the reigning Super Bowl champion was chosen to host the NFL’s season opener. They hold a combined record of 15-5 in those matchups.
