What are Texas A&M's NCAA Tournament odds after defeating Kentucky?

After cruising to a critical 96-85 home victory against Kentucky on Tuesday night, the Texas A&M Aggies’ postseason hopes remain very much alive with one regular-season contest remaining.

Saturday’s matchup against the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will be integral for Texas A&M to secure a spot in March Madness, as the team remains on the outside looking in. According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, the Aggies are in the Last Four Byes, moving up two spots following the win over the Wildcats at Reed Arena.

The Tigers are on a two-game losing streak after an 88-74 defeat at Auburn and would love nothing more than to diminish Texas A&M’s postseason aspirations this weekend.

With NCAA Tournament implications on the line and their backs against the wall, the Aggies must play clean basketball and shoot consistently against LSU to leave Baton Rouge with momentum entering the SEC Tournament on March 11-15.

Entering the weekend’s contest against the Tigers, first-year head coach Bucky McMillan has his squad performing incredibly well shooting the basketball. While there have been some hiccups along the way, it is difficult to stop Texas A&M’s shooters when they are playing consistently and taking good shots. The Maroon and White rank as the No. 4 scoring offense in the SEC, averaging 88.3 points per game this season.

That sentiment was on full display against Kentucky on Tuesday night in Bryan-College Station, as the Aggies shot 48% from the field and 46% from 3-point range. Five Texas A&M players reached double-digits, with the biggest topic of conversation being Rubén Dominguez returning to his true form after a recent slump. Dominguez recorded 17 points and three rebounds in 21 minutes on the court against the Wildcats.

If the Aggies can carry that momentum into this weekend’s integral outing against the Tigers, the opportunity to lock in a tournament bid will be at stake when they travel to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, for the SEC Tournament.

Texas A&M’s road matchup against LSU is set to tip off at 5 p.m. CT from the Maravich Assembly Center. The game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
