West Texas GOP, Democratic primary results are in. Here's how it went

Election Day’s unofficial results are in for the March primaries, giving insight into who will be on the ballot in November. Here’s a look into the races and contenders for what is known regionally as the West Texas Delegation.

Texas Senate District 28 – Charles Perry and Riley Rodriquez

The Republicans and Democrats had only one candidate each: Incumbent Charles Perry for the Republicans and Riley Rodriquez for the Democrats. This sends both to the 2026 General Election in November.

Texas Senate District 31 – Kevin Sparks and John Betancourt

The Republicans and Democrats had only one candidate each: Incumbent Kevin Sparks for the Republicans and John Betancourt for the Democrats. This sends both to the 2026 General Election in November.

Texas House District 83 – Dustin Burrows and Malik Williams

The Republicans and Democrats had only one candidate each: Incumbent Dustin Burrows for the Republicans and Malik Williams for the Democrats. This sends both to the 2026 General Election in November.

Texas House District 84 – Carl Tepper and Margaret Durham

The Republicans and Democrats had only one candidate each: Incumbent Carl Tepper for the Republicans and Margaret Durham for the Democrats. This sends both to the 2026 General Election in November.

Texas House District 86 – Holly Jeffreys and Cullin Knutson

The Republican primary for House District 86 had Jamie Haynes and Holly Jeffreys on the ballot. Jeffreys took an early lead during early voting and maintained it, ending the night with 15,552 votes for 66%.

The Democratic primary had Cullin Knutson uncontested. Knutson will appear on the November ballot with Jeffreys.

Texas House District 87 – Caroline Fairly and Diana Loya

This race was uncontested between the Republicans and Democrats, having only one candidate each. Incumbent Rep. Caroline Fairly, Republican, will be on the ballot against Diana Loya, Democrat, in the 2026 General Election in November.

Texas House District 88 – Ken King and Heather J. Wallace

The Republican primary for House District 88 had Ken King, the incumbent, against John Browning. King managed to stay on top, ending the night with 10,713 votes for 54%, with some precincts still out. Browning ended the night with 8,998 votes.

The Democratic primary had Heather J. Wallace uncontested. Wallace will appear on the November ballot with King.

When is the General Election Day?

Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Early voting will begin Oct. 19.
