Things to do this weekend in Abilene

A dog show, a comic con and a zoo celebration.

Whether the family feels called to the outdoors or to enjoy a night of leisure and music, there is something happening to fit the vibe.

Here is a list of events happening the weekend of May 16.

Abilene Kennel Club Dog Show

Abilene Kennel Club will host its annual all-breed dog show Friday to Sunday at the Taylor County Coliseum, 1700 Texas Highway 36. Shows run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. every day.

The dog show is free to spectators. Unentered dogs and baby strollers are requested not to be brought due to space constraints.

Zoolute

Zoolute at the Abilene Zoo, 2070 Zoo Lane, will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday to celebrate and honor Abilene’s military and families.

Free admission for all active, veteran and retired military and their families with military or dependent identification.

Enjoy animal ambassador appearances, live music and keeper chats throughout the day.

Abilene Comic Con

Abilene’s 2025 Comic Con will feature a variety of guests, games and activities to entertain all visitors.

The event is at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St., Saturday-Sunday.

Ticket prices vary depending on convention day and online or in person purchases. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
