The Texas Tech basketball team got beat on the glass once again and let an opportunity slip away late in a 82-76 loss at BYU to close the regular season.
The Red Raiders (22-9, 12-6) mounted a comeback late in the second half on Saturday, March 7, after BYU jumped out to a 10-point lead. Texas Tech tied the game at 75 with 1:46 left, but Kennard Davis hit a crucial 3-pointer and the Red Raiders couldn’t connect on the other end for their second loss in a row.

Rob Wright III had 23 points and AJ Dybantsa 21 for BYU. Christian Anderson and Donovan Atwell each had 23 points for Texas Tech. It’s the first time BYU has beaten Texas Tech in men’s basketball since the teams were paired up in the Big 12 Conference.

11:33 p.m.: Texas Tech trails 75-68 with 3:22 left. After hitting 12 3-pointers in the first half, the Red Raiders have hit just 3 in the second half.
11:28 p.m.: BYU has opened up a 74-66 lead with 4:55 left. Cougars have outscored Texas Tech 10-2 in the last three minutes.
11:18 p.m.: Texas Tech and BYU are tied 64-64 with 8:09 left. Texas Tech can’t stop Rob Wright but Jaylen Petty’s getting going for the Red Raiders.
11:07 p.m.: Texas Tech leads 57-55 with 11:44 left. Christian Anderson up to 18 points an 9 assists, Donovan Atwell 19 points. Rob Wright with 13 points in the second half for BYU.
10:58 p.m.: Rob Wright has taken command and BYU has cut Texas Tech’s lead down to 52-51 with 14:26 left.
10:51 p.m.: AJ Dybantsa’s about to go for his Oscar trying to draw fouls in the second half. Texas Tech up 51-47 early in the second.
10:27 p.m.: The two teams combine for 6 made 3s in the final 1:52 of the half and Texas Tech will go into halftime with a 46-38 lead. Christian Anderson has 15 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
10:18 p.m.: BYU is on a 7-0 run to trim Texas Tech’s lead to 31-25 with 4:00 left in the half.
10:08 p.m.: Christian Anderson has broken the Texas Tech single-season assist record with his 227th helper of the year. Red Raiders up 31-18 with 7:40 left in the half.
10:02 p.m.: Christian Anderson sinks his 4th 3-pointer to give Texas Tech a 22-14 lead, BYU timeout.
9:57 p.m.: 16-14 in favor of Texas Tech at the 12:08 mark. BYU has 8 points in the paint.
