Texas Longhorns get positive injury update on WR Ryan Wingo

Don’t look now, but the Texas Longhorns might be starting to put things together at the right time of the season.

After dropping two of their first five games, the Longhorns have rattled off four straight wins get to to 7-2 on the season, and put themselves right back into the mix when it comes to the SEC Championship Game hunt with a potential spot in the College Football Playoff waiting for them.

While that hot streak has been fraught with some injury news, the Longhorns seemingly got a positive update on Sunday when it comes to one of their best offensive players. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, wide receiver Ryan Wingo is not expected to miss any time going forward after being forced to exit Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt with a thumb injury.

Wingo has been the No. 1 receiver for the Longhorns this year, hauling in 31 passes for 593 yards and five touchdowns. He left Saturday’s game after kicking things off with an electric 75-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game for Texas.

Saturday was also the first game back for QB Arch Manning, who was in concussion protocol the week before, but was deemed healthy enough to play vs. the Commodores. If Manning can continue to stay hot, and the Longhorns can get some good injury luck, then they are certainly a team to watch as we roll through the month of November in the SEC.
