Texas A&M reliever Josh Stewart remains out for Game 2 of the Aggies’ SEC opening series against Oklahoma after suffering an injury in Friday’s loss.
The Aggies led 7-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, when Stewart was set to take the mound. Stewart, however, immediately suffered an injury to his throwing arm after four warm-up pitches.
A transfer from Texas, Stewart was a key part of an elite 2024 Aggie bullpen that led the team to the College World Series Finals against Tennessee. He made just one appearance the following season, suffering a season-ending injury on his sixth pitch of the season.
Stewart has impressed in limited action this season, striking out 10 batters in his 6.1 innings with only one earned run and five hits allowed.
The Aggies are also without lefty pitcher Caden McCoy, who suffered a season-ending injury in January. The Sooners are missing utility player Cayden Brumbaugh and pitcher Brisco Smith; both players also missed the series opener. Texas A&M will look to rebound against Oklahoma on Saturday.
