Starbucks to close 1 Lubbock location, here's what we know

One of Lubbock’s newer Starbucks locations will be shut down this weekend, along with many across the U.S.

A message to employees, issued Wednesday, stated that 1% of stores would close across the brand, a move that follows CEO Brian Niccol’s Back to Starbucks transformation strategy, according to USATODAY. Starbucks did not release a list of closing stores, though paper signs started popping up on affected locations.

Those papers were taped to the door and drive-thru window of the Lubbock store at 6005 Slide Road. This location opened in early March of 2024.

“We’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close this Starbucks location by the end of the week,” the sign stated. “We know many of you will be thinking about your favorite partner, and we’re working closely to support our partners through this transition.”

An employee said this was the only store closing in the Hub City Wednesday afternoon.
