While seven Southeastern Conference programs are on bye weeks, there are plenty of matchups with significant implications on the line.
All naysayers doubting Alabama were silenced in Week 5, after the Crimson Tide defeated Kirby Smart for the seventh time. Now, Smart is looking to turn around Georgia’s fate with what should be a dominant outing against a Kentucky team with zero identity. Kalen DeBoer and company are set to play host to Vanderbilt, with eyes on vengeance against the Commodores after the embarrassing loss in 2024.
Other SEC contests in Week 6 include a battle between two impressive defenses when the Longhorns square off against the Gators, and a massive matchup in Bryan-College Station, when Texas A&M takes on an underrated Mississippi State program under the lights at Kyle Field. The Oklahoma Sooners will also compete this Saturday in a non-conference matchup against Kent State, as Brent Venables looks to lead his team to its fifth victory of the year, ahead of next week’s showdown against Texas.
As Saturday’s SEC slate rapidly approaches, here are full predictions for every contest in Week 6 and what to expect from each program in the conference:
Kentucky (2-2, 0-2 SEC) at No. 12 Georgia (3-1, 1-1 SEC) | 11 a.m. CT, ABC
Series history: UGA leads 64-12-2
Saturday’s odds: UGA (-20.5), O/U (48.5)
Breakdown: Head coach Kirby Smart will look to bounce back in SEC play with a win over Kentucky, after losing a heartbreaker to the Crimson Tide in Athens, Georgia, last weekend. While the Bulldogs were outplayed on their home turf in Week 5, the roster is loaded with talented playmakers with a chip on their shoulders moving forward. Meanwhile, Kentucky is struggling to find its footing, following conference losses to Ole Miss and South Carolina. Georgia has too much talent and will be primed to prove that Atlanta is still on the table on Saturday.
Prediction: Kentucky 10 | No. 12 Georgia 34
No. 16 Vanderbilt (5-0, 1-0 SEC) at No. 10 Alabama (3-1, 1-0 SEC) | 2:30 p.m. CT, ABC
Series history: Alabama leads 60-20-4
Saturday’s odds: Alabama (-10.5), O/U (55.5)
Breakdown: Despite all the rumors swirling in Tuscaloosa on whether or not Kalen DeBoer is Alabama material, the Crimson Tide’s second-year head coach shut it down quickly with a victory at Georgia last weekend. Quarterback Ty Simpson has Alabama at No. 5 in passing offense in college football so far this season, while also ranking top 30 in total scoring. However, they have a daunting task ahead of them this weekend, as Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia rolls into T-Town looking for another win over the Crimson Tide to cap off his collegiate career in Nashville, Tennessee. This game will be a back-and-forth contest for the first half, but Simpson will help Alabama pull away for another massive conference victory.

No. 9 Texas (3-1, 0-0 SEC) at Florida (1-3, 0-1 SEC) | 2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN
Series history: Texas leads 3-0-1
Saturday’s odds: Texas (-5.5), O/U (42.5)
Breakdown: Both Texas and Florida are coming off bye weeks and searching for their first conference victory of the 2025 campaign on Saturday in The Swamp, but it will take the quarterback play to take huge leaps forward after strings of disappointing performances from Arch Manning and DJ Lagway. This will be a competitive, defensive-driven matchup, as both programs rank in the top 25 in total defense. This game will come down to who has the best head coach, and in this instance, Steve Sarkisian has the edge.
Prediction: No. 9 Texas 17 | Florida 10
Kent State (1-3, 0-1 MAC) at No. 5 Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 SEC) | 3 p.m. CT, SECN
Series history: Oklahoma leads 1-0
Saturday’s odds: Oklahoma (-45.5), O/U (52.5)
Breakdown: Even though John Mateer will not lead the Oklahoma Sooners out of the tunnel against Kent State on Saturday, there are still many playmakers who will run rapidly against the Golden Flashes. This should allow head coach Brent Venables to give the starters ample rest as the Red River Showdown against the Longhorns looms on the horizon in Week 7.
Prediction: Kent State 6 | No. 5 Oklahoma 48
Mississippi State (4-1, 0-1 SEC) at No. 6 Texas A&M (4-0, 1-0 SEC) | 6:30 p.m. CT, SECN
Series history: Tied 9-9
Saturday’s odds: Texas A&M (-14.5), O/U (55.5)
Breakdown: The battle of the maroons could be the game of the week in the SEC, as the Aggies battle a dangerous Bulldogs squad in the nightcap on Saturday. Texas A&M is riding a massive wave of momentum after capturing wins over Notre Dame and Auburn, while Mississippi State has also captured a top-15 win over Arizona State. This is not the same MSU team from last season, but the Aggies have also made tremendous improvements. This will be a back-and-forth contest, in which Texas A&M’s home-field advantage will provide an extra boost to secure a close win over the Bulldogs.
