Police confirm 1 dead in central Lubbock hit-and-run crash

Police confirmed one person is dead after a reported hit-and-run crash early Friday evening in central Lubbock.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating near 42nd Street and Memphis Avenue, where officers originally responded about 5:55 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run crash with injuries, according to a statement from police.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Other details about the circumstances of the crash, the victim and vehicle involved were not immediately clear as an investigation is ongoing.
