Longhorns football extends offer to four-star Texas native Blake Jenkins

While the Texas Longhorns are focused on winning a national title, they are also keeping an eye on the future. On Tuesday, they entered the recruiting battle for 2027 prospect Blake Jenkins. The talented cornerback has the potential to be an elite player and is now on the Longhorns’ radar.

During the recruiting process, Jenkins has also received offers from Kansas State, Kansas, Houston, Kentucky, Tulane, and Troy. That list should continue to grow the longer the four-star prospect stays on the market. While Jenkins’ high school career is far from over, he has impressed scouts with his play.

Currently, the Texas native is ranked as the 28th best cornerback in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 35th best player from the Lone Star state. His impressive ranking comes following a 2024 campaign in which he made the most of his playing time.

In his sophomore season, Jenkins recorded 12 tackles and one interception in five games. He also added four pass breakups to his resume. While his statistics don’t jump off the page, Jenkins made his presence felt when he was on the field. That was enough to catch Texas’s attention as they look to build an elite 2027 class.

At the moment, the Longhorns have only secured a commitment from one 2027 prospect, four-star Taven Epps. However, they have been connected to some of the top recruits in the class. That includes John Meredith III, Zyron Forstall, Ahmad Hudson, KJ Green, and Joshua Dobson. Adding any of those prospects would give Texas a bright future.

For Texas, the next step will be getting Jenkins to Austin for a visit. They will then be able to show him why the Longhorns are the best program for him to start his college career.
