HS Volleyball: Bushland, Randall set to compete in regional finals on Tuesday night

With just three rounds left in the Texas high school volleyball playoffs, a pair of teams from the Texas Panhandle remain in contention for a state title.

A year after Bushland and Randall each reached the UIL championship match, both teams are in the hunt once again.

The Lady Falcons graduated former Globe-News Super Team MVP Mackenzie Sims after winning its fourth state title in five seasons, but has still managed to make another deep playoff run.

Bushland notched a 33-8 record in the regular season, winning another District 1-3A Division I title along the way. Jason Culpepper’s team has knocked off Littlefield, Denver City and Jim Ned in the first three rounds of the playoffs without losing a single set.

Now, the group is set for a meeting with Peaster, who was eliminated from the postseason in 2024 at the hands of the Lady Falcons, who won 3-0 in the regional finals. This season, the two teams meet in the Region I-3A Division I final for the second consecutive year with a trip to the state semifinals on the line.

Bushland and Peaster square off at 6 p.m. in Vernon on Nov. 11.

The Lady Raiders fell to Wimberley in the state championship match last year, and like Bushland, lost a star senior in Sidney Soria. Still, Randall turned in a solid season in one of Class 4A’s most competitive districts.

Karli Morrison’s team held a 21-13 record entering the postseason, and has taken down Fort Stockton, Fabens and Krum en route to the Region I-4A Division II final. Next up, the Lady Raiders meet Eagle Mountain in Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

The Lady Knights defeated Canyon to reach the regional finals, where they will meet another tough CISD squad.
