This weekend, El Paso families can get ideas for home improvement projects at the Spring Home & Garden Show at the El Paso convention center.
Readers of all ages can also celebrate the birthday of the El Paso Public Library’s official owl mascot, Lea, at the Clardy Fox Branch Library in South-Central El Paso.
El Paso Times photographer Gaby Velasquez will have an exhibit opening at the MACC Downtown on Saturday, March 7. “In this Light” will feature photographs created in collaboration with Velasquez’s friends, family, and community.
Also, this weekend, are performances by Chicago, Gladys Knight and Heart in various venues.

Chicago
Chicago, one of the longest-running groups of all time, will bring its tour to El Paso. The band, now in its 58th touring season, will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets ranging from $92 to $496, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Gladys Knight
The seven-time Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight will perform in El Paso with a show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets, priced from $87 to $324 plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Heart
Because of popular demand, the band Heart is continuing its Royal Flush Tour in 2026 and bringing it to El Paso with a performance at 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the El Paso County Coliseum. Tickets ranging from $71 to $417, plus fees, available at Ticketmaster.com.
El Paso Times photographer Gaby Velasquez opens “In This Light” at MACC
El Pasoans are invited to El Paso Times photographer Gaby Velasquez’s opening reception of “In This Light” from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7 in the MACC Community Gallery. It will be on view through May 31. Free.
‘In This Light’ brings together a survey of photographs by Velasquez created in collaboration with friends, family, and community. The artists’ work emphasizes moments shaped by trust and intention, sometimes posed and sometimes still, allowing communities the choice of presentation and visibility. The approach Velasquez takes is centered on trust, care, and intention over documentation, allowing her photographs to hold space for both posed and in-between moments that allows unity and togetherness.
El Paso Library celebrates owl mascot Lea
The El Paso Library will celebrate the birthday of its owl mascot Lea at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Clardy Fox Library, 5515 Robert Alva Ave.
Families can enjoy an afternoon of mascot appearances, party games, prizes, and plenty of birthday fun for all ages. Lea’s mascot friends will make a special appearance at 4 p.m., adding even more excitement to the celebration. Free.
Hike-A-Thon series begins Saturday, March 7
Live Active El Paso is excited to bring back its popular Hike-A-Thon series, running March 7 through May 2 at trails and trailheads across the city. This citywide outdoor event provides ample opportunities for people of all ages to get moving and improve overall wellness while offering breathtaking scenery.
This year’s series includes five hikes. Participants who complete four hikes will receive a prize. With routes ranging from beginner-friendly to moderate difficulty, the schedule offers options for a variety of skill levels.
The first hike will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7 at Resler Canyon Loop, on Cadiz Street.

Spring Home & Garden Show
The 25th Spring Home & Garden Show will take place March 6-8 at the El Paso convention center. Hours will be: 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8. Free admission courtesy of Mattress Firm.
Peter and the Wolf
Introduce your children and grandchildren to the timeless magic of this symphonic fairytale, Prokofiev’s classic “Peter and the Wolf” with a performance at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Plaza Theatre.
The story follows young Peter, who ventures into the forest, befriending a bird, a duck, and a cat. Together, they encounter the wolf. Each character is brought to life through various instruments in the orchestra — stagecraft by Adam Zarowski with the Youth Opera of El Paso. Candlelight concerts
Candlelight concerts, often featuring the Four Bridges Quartet, are held monthly at various locations, such as the St. Roger’s Depot, 420 N. Campbell St. in Downtown, or the El Paso Zoo. Each concert is themed, whether it features music by a particular famous singer or is tied to a popular show. Upcoming is Candlelight: ’90s Hip-Hop on Strings at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12.
