After five years of saying it did not have plans to build a second location, a site plan for another H-E-B has been filed with the Lubbock site plan committee.
Little is known beyond the address, which will be 5805 19th St. near West Loop 289, according to site review documents from the city of Lubbock released this week.
Currently, the land on the southeast corner of the intersection between the West Loop and 19th Street is vacant but near a shopping center and across 19th Street from Academy Sports + Outdoors.
H-E-B opened its first Lubbock location, 4405 114th St., in October of 2020. Around that same time, the company purchased land near 19th Street and Frankford, but said there were no plans to build there at the time. The company maintained this stance when asked again in 2022.
The A-J reached out to H-E-B for comment on this development. In a brief statement, H-E-B wrote, “We don’t have any information to share.”
