CFP shakeup coming? Odds, picks for Week 15 conference championships

With the stakes at their highest entering Week 15, programs involved in their respective conference championship games are looking to claim the throne atop their leagues and solidify their cases to earn a spot in the playoff.

While some teams came just short of making an appearance in the conference title, the dominoes that will fall from the outcomes across the country this weekend could impact seeding tremendously, with the CFP Selection Committee waiting to submit the final playoff bracket on Sunday afternoon.

One of those teams that could be moved from their current position is the Texas A&M Aggies, who failed to make their first appearance in the Southeastern Conference Championship due to the school’s second consecutive loss in the Lone Star Showdown against the Texas Longhorns. Should the BYU Cougars defeat the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Big 12 Championship and the Alabama Crimson Tide topple the Georgia Bulldogs, Mike Elko and company could drop below an 8-seed in the CFP, which would mean Texas A&M would not host a home playoff game at Kyle Field.

The Aggies’ potential fall from grace is just one scenario that could play out, depending on the results of another stacked slate of college football. These teams are battling for conference supremacy and fighting to show the committee they deserve to be participating, with the most massive implications on the line.
