BTS El Paso concertgoers urged to stay hydrated, safe from heat

BTS fans probably can’t wait for concert day to arrive, planning their outfits and what they want to give out at the concerts Saturday or Sunday, May 2-3.

El Paso medical professionals, however, want to remind fans to consider El Paso’s hot weather this festival season and to bring their refillable plastic bottles, which are allowed in Sun Bowl Stadium.

The Sun Bowl stadium will not allow people to bring any metal refillable water bottles. They can bring one sealed, standard plastic water bottle per person.

Dr. Radosveta Wells, an associate professor of emergency medicine at Texas Tech Health El Paso, encourages attendees to take a few simple precautions to enjoy the festivities safely.“Concerts and festivals should be memorable for the music – not for a trip to the emergency room,” Wells said in an email. “With a little preparation, you can stay safe, stay hydrated and enjoy an unforgettable music experience.”

Weather for BTS El Paso concert May 2-3

The weather will be mostly sunny this weekend, with a high near 69 on Saturday, May 2, and wind gusts up to 18 miles per hour. Sunday’s temperatures will be even hotter with a high near 77, and southeast winds ranging from three to seven miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

“We want to make sure our fans are safe and we have more than 18 teams throughout the footprint for medical services and some other agencies will be helping us as well,” said Jorge Vazquez, executive director of the Special Events Center.

There will also be information tents in Glory Field and outside the stadium.

Also, note that the show involves lasers, cryo, low fog, haze, flames, pyro and strobing effects.
