Another key Texas A&M commit has shut down his recruitment. Four-star edge Kaden McCarty took to social media on Sunday to announce he was ending his recruitment.
It’s official!! Been locked in from the start!!! Thank you to all the schools thats have been with me throughout this whole process!! I’m an aggie 4L!! ELKO ERA
He isn’t the only Texas A&M commit to shut down his recruitment. Five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey and four-star cornerback Hakim Frampton have both publicly announced their recruitments are over and that they are locked in with the Aggies.
McCarty has been committed to the Aggies since Dec. 8, 2025. He is from Houston, Texas, and chose them over the Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Baylor Bears, and Houston Cougars. He has not visited any other program since he committed to Texas A&M and will return to College Station on May 28 for his official visit.
He is ranked as the No. 198 overall player and No. 21 edge in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 32 player from Texas. He is their only commitment at edge, but they do have five-star defensive lineman Zyron Forstall and four-star defensive lineman Myels Smith committed.
McCarty had an extremely disruptive junior season at Cypress Falls High School. In 13 games, he recorded 51 tackles, 26.0 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, 20 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown.
By shutting down his recruitment, he frees up Texas A&M’s coaching staff to keep trying to add to their 2027 recruiting class. The group is currently ranked as the No. 1 class in the country by 247Sports.
