Village of Vinton – mayor’s race: Unofficial final results
11:23 p.m.: The unofficial final results for the Village of Vinton mayoral election are in, with a total of 216 votes cast. Three candidates were on the ballot:

Texas Proposition 6: Unofficial final results for El Paso County
11:16 p.m.: Proposition 6 ended in a razor-thin margin in El Paso County, according to final election results. The measure has 26,588 votes in favor, representing 49.72%, while 26,887 votes are against, accounting for 50.28%. In all, 53,475 ballots were cast on this proposition.

Texas Proposition 17: Majority support in El Paso County
11:13 p.m.: Proposition 17 passed with a clear majority. Unofficial final election results: 29,327 votes supporting the measure, or 54.67%, compared to 24,320 votes against, or 45.33%. A total of 53,647 ballots were cast on this proposition.

Texas Proposition 6: El Paso County results show razor-thin margin
Unofficial voting results indicate a nearly even split among El Paso County voters on Proposition 6. The measure has 21,436 votes in favor, representing 50.23%, while 21,241 voters opposed it, accounting for 49.77%. In total, 42,677 ballots were cast on this proposition.
Ballot language: “The constitutional amendment prohibiting the legislature from enacting a law imposing an occupation tax on certain entities that enter into transactions conveying securities or imposing a tax on certain securities transactions.”

Socorro ISD Prop A: Tax ratification measure still too close to call
The measure remains extremely close as Election Day results begin to come in. Unofficial totals show 3,975 votes in favor (49.79%) and 4,009 against (50.21%). A total of 7,984 ballots have been cast.

Tornillo ISD Prop A: Low turnout, measure failing by 9 votes
Turnout was low, with only 55 ballots cast. The measure is failing, with 23 votes in favor (41.82%) and 32 against (58.18%), according to unofficial results.

Village of Vinton mayor race remains close
The contest for mayor in the Village of Vinton remains close as Election Day results begin to come in. Rachel Quintana holds a narrow lead over Juvencia Rios Ontiveros, with Samuel ‘Sam’ Monrreal trailing in third. A total of 124 ballots were cast during early voting.

Early voting participation remains low, with fewer than 5% of registered voters casting ballots ahead of Election Day.

Socorro ISD, Tornillo ISD update
Socorro Independent School District’s Proposition A is narrowly leading, according to unofficial early voting results. A total of 3,570 voters cast ballots in favor of the measure, while 3,493 voted against it.
Nearby, turnout in the Tornillo Independent School District was low, with only 55 ballots cast.
The district’s Proposition A was failing by nine votes, 32-23.

Vinton mayor early voting results
In the Village of Vinton, the mayor’s race remains close, according to unofficial early voting results. Rachel Quintana holds a four-vote lead over Juvencia Rios Ontiveros, who has 44 votes. Samuel ‘Sam’ Monrreal received 31 votes in early voting. In all, 123 ballots were cast before Election Day.

Texas propositions trending toward approval in El Paso County
All 17 state propositions appear headed for easy approval by El Paso County voters, according to unofficial early voting results. Proposition 10 was the most popular measure, receiving 88% of votes in favor, according to unofficial early results. Only 11% of voters opposed the proposition.
It appears unlikely that any of the propositions will be defeated once Election Day votes are counted.

“The constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature to provide for a temporary exemption from ad valorem taxation of the appraised value of an improvement to a residence homestead that is completely destroyed by a fire.”
