A pair of El Paso high school baseball players were named All-State in Class 5A by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Del Valle third baseman Diego Villalobos was named third-team All-State, and Americas senior Drew Gonzalez was named first-team All-State at shortstop. Villalobos hit .456 on the season with two home runs. 31 RBI and 19 stolen bases. He also had five wins as a pitcher. Villalobos was also named All-State last season.
Gonzalez, who has committed to Texas Tech to play college baseball, helped Americas reach the regional finals of the Class 5A, Division 1 playoffs, where they lost to eventual state champion Aledo.
Gonzalez finished the season with 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 46 walks.
