Woman stabbed in Belden Village area, suspect arrested after crash

JACKSON TWP. ‒ A woman was stabbed on Feb. 17 in the Belden Village area by someone she knew who was later captured after a vehicle chase and crash in Portage County, police said.

In a press release, Police Chief Mark Brink said the department responded around 7:58 a.m. to the 5100 block of Dressler Road NW for an assault.

The release did not indicate which business or whether the assault occurred inside or outside.

The woman’s wounds are believed to be life-threatening, Brink said.

“The caller advised that a female was bleeding from her face and the male suspect had fled the area,” Brink wrote. “On arrival, a female victim was found to have injuries to her head, neck and chest area.”

Jackson Township Fire Department medics took her to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton.

After obtaining information about the suspect, police issued a statewide alert to be on the lookout for him.

Brink said the Portage County Sheriff’s Office took the suspect, Tyrone A. Card, 44, into custody after a pursuit in which the suspect crashed his vehicle. Card was taken to a Ravenna hospital with unknown injuries. His address is unknown.

Jackson Township officers are seeking charges of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

“It is believed the victim and suspect are in a relationship,” Brink wrote. “No motive has been determined at this time.

“We would like to thank the Jackson Township Detective Bureau, Jackson Township Fire Department and the Portage County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in this investigation.

“This investigation is ongoing and information will be released when updates are available,” the police chief wrote.
