Ohio State football coach Ryan Day revealed the reason why he is not a dog owner.
On an episode of the “Nonstop” podcast on Oct. 20, former Ohio State player Joey Galloway asked Day if he has any dogs of his own.
“It just tells me a lot about person we’re speaking to,” Galloway said while his co-host, former OSU quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, famous for his dogs, smiled at the question.
“I’ve got dogs on the team, but I don’t have any dogs in the house,” Day said, smirking.
Day explained that his wife, Christina, is one of the reasons why there are no dogs in the family household, stemming from Christina’s father’s upbringing around sheep dogs in his home village in Greece.
“When he was young, if he went by the sheep, the dogs would go and attack you,” Day said.” … That fear went into my wife, and so she is petrified of dogs.”
Said Galloway, making fun of Herbstreit’s love for dogs: “Coach, I had a ton of respect for you up until this point. Right now you just went way high on my list.”
