LANCASTER — The Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board’s 15th annual Legacy Dinner on June 11 will feature a live and a silent auction to help raise funds for the endowment.

The auctioneer is Doug Leith of Leith Auctions, LLC in Pleasantville.
Board president Blake Fox knows firsthand what impact 4-H can have on a person, as a Fairfield County 4-H alumnus and former advisor.
“The Fairfield County 4-H Endowment helped make many opportunities possible throughout my 4-H career,” Fox said. “Through the support of the Endowment and the 4-H program, I was able to attend Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington, D.C., and Ohio 4-H State Leadership Camp, along with many other leadership and educational experiences that helped shape my confidence, leadership skills, and future.”
Today, the Fairfield County 4-H program serves more than 3,150 youth annually through clubs, camps, school enrichment, and leadership opportunities.The dinner will begin with appetizers and the auction preview at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 on June 11 at CEC Turf & Tractor in Canal Winchester. The meal is provided by Cheers Chalet, and the grazing table and desserts are provided by Sweet Betty.

Area ODOT projects
The following Ohio Department of Transportation projects are going on in Fairfield County.
U.S. 33 and Pickerington Road Interchange – The project involves the construction of a new interchange facility at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and Pickerington Road. The project will involve the replacement of the at-grade intersections of Pickerington Road and U.S. 33 as well as Pickerington Road and the railroad crossing. New Impacts: Beginning Monday, June 8, Benadum Road will close at the Pickerington Rd intersection for 14 days to allow for the construction of the temporary Pickerington Road. Northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained on the existing Pickerington RdContinued Impacts:
Drivers should expect nightly lane closures in both directions for overhead work. One lane will remain open each way.
U.S 22 is closed to traffic west of Amanda over Clear Creek in Fairfield County for a bridge replacement project. The roadway is expected to reopen late fall 2026. Detour: U.S. 22 to SR 674 to SR 188 to U.S. 33 to U.S. 22 and reverse.
State Route 158 and Coonpath Road in Fairfield County is closed to traffic for the creation of a roundabout. Estimated project completion is November 2026. Detour: SR 158 to U.S. 22 to SR 37 to SR 256 to SR 158 and reverse.
State Route 158 will be restricted to one lane of alternating traffic with flaggers for paving in Licking and Fairfield Counties. Work will take place during daylight hours and is expected to be complete July of 2026.
Menards food drive
The local Menards home improvement store is now serving as a drop site for a local food pantry during the months of June and July.
Menards offers a wide variety of non-perishable food items that can be donated to the food pantries, from boxes of cereal to cans of soup for immediate donation. There is a large collection box near the exit doors to place donations.
Flag Day event
LANCASTER — A Flag Day celebration will take place from 10:30 to 3 p.m. June 14 in Downtown Lancaster.
Speakers for the event include former sheriff Dave Phalen, Fairfield County Sheriff Alex Lape, Mayor Don McDaniel, Ohio Senator Tim Schaffer, along with some historical actors portraying General George Washington, President Thomas Jefferson and Revolutionary War soldiers.
It will include a community church service, veteran recognitions, proclamations, a prayer, a concert by Mark Pennington, historical speech re-enactments, face painting, crafts, a scavenger hunt and a raffle.
Food trucks, including Rockin Rolls, Madison Famous Fish, Gypsy Joe’s and Busy Bee Bakery, will be on hand.
