LANCASTER — The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its summer weather predictions for 2025.
Metrological summer begins on June 1, while the June solstice that marks the astronomical summer starts on June 20.
For Ohio, the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts we will experience a very hot and rainy summer.
Record-breaking heat is possible given recent trends, but they say there will be a gradual buildup. June will be near normal in most regions, but July and August may bring above-normal temperatures.

“Last summer (2024), Americans endured one of the hottest summers on record, with a nationwide average temperature of 73.8°F, or 2.5°F above normal,” according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac website. “It was also Earth’s hottest summer since global records began in 1880, barely surpassing 2023’s record.”
According to the National Centers for Environmental Information, in 2024 for Fairfield County, the average temperature in June was 71.6, 74.2 in July and 73.6 in August. Throughout the three months, the average precipitation was 2.2 inches
