There’s little movement in this week’s football power rankings but the top three remains the same.
Let’s see what the Week 7 power rankings look like this week.
On the outside this week: Chippewa (0-7), Northwestern (1-6), Waynedale (0-7) and Wooster (0-7).
Week 7 Football Power Rankings
10. Loudonville (2-5)
Loudonville came close to ending their four-game winning streak against Fredericktown, but lost in overtime 26-20.
This Week: at home vs. Cardington-Lincoln (3-4)
9. Tuslaw (3-4)
Tuslaw scored a nice 33-12 non-league win on the road against 6-0 Toronto on Friday, as the Mustangs outscored their opponent 28-6 in the second half. Quarterback Ethan Haer led the charge with four total touchdowns and 208 total yards of offense.
This Week: at Northwest (4-2)
8. Rittman (5-2)
In a another key step-up game in league play for Rittman, they couldn’t overcome Dalton’s play in their 27-7 road loss. The next two weeks the Indians will face two more stern tests in Smithville and Hillsdale.
This Week: at home vs. Smithville (6-1)
7. Orrville (4-3)
Orrville slipped up for the second straight week, going down to Northwest 28-14 on the road. The Red Riders were outgained in yardage 435-207, while the Indians averaged 7.7 yards per play compared to Orrville’s just 3.6. Orrville looks like it could have a favorable opponent against Worthington Christian before it takes on possibly the two top teams in the Principals Athletic Conference in Triway and Akron Manchester in the last two weeks of the regular season.
This Week: at home vs. Worthington Christian (3-4)
6. West Holmes (5-2)
West Holmes took a tumble at home against Lexington 41-7 in a matchup of two 5-1 teams that were undefeated in Ohio Cardinal Conference play. From the get-go, West Holmes looked outmanned, with Lexington’s athleticism, height and length on both sides of the ball giving the Knights fits. It was surely a falloff from the Knights team we’ve seen during their recent five-game winning streak.
They will have to put that loss to the side and get ready for a formidable Ashland team.
This Week: at Ashland (7-0)
5. Dalton (5-2)
After going down early 7-0 to Rittman, the Bulldogs went on to score 27 unanswered points in grabbing a 27-7 win. Dalton gets Norwayne this week in what should be an evenly matched game between familiar rivals.
This Week: at Norwayne (5-2)
4. Norwayne (5-2)
Norwayne’s offense has jumped into high gear of late, as the Bobcats have scored 40+ points in three of their last four games (48, 48, 49). They’ll put that offense to good use versus Dalton this week, as Norwayne will look to keep pace with Hillsdale atop the Wayne County Athletic League standings.
This Week: at home vs. Dalton (5-2)
3. Triway (6-1)
Triway had another fine performance in Week 7, beating Canton South 47-23 at home. The Titans are right in it in terms of positioning themselves for a PAC title and this week against first-place Akron Manchester should be a big one.
This Week: at home vs. Akron Manchester (6-1)
2. Smithville (6-1)
Coming off a big game loss to Hillsdale, Smithville took their frustration out on Northwestern 41-14. It was the fifth game this season that the Smithies defense held their opponent to under 15 points.
This Week: at Rittman (5-2)
1. Hillsdale (7-0)
For the sixth consecutive week, Hillsdale holds the No. 1 spot in the power rankings. The Falcons took care of business at Waynedale 45-13 behind quarterback Kael Lewis’ 320 total yards of offense and four total touchdowns, along with their continued productive defensive play.
This Week: at Northwestern (1-6)
