The Cincinnati Bengals and Trey Hendrickson probably won’t be reuniting after the pass-rusher’s trip to free agency.
That much was obvious based on how things have gone between the two sides over the last few years.
But Hendrickson pretty much just confirmed it on social media.
After the deadline to apply franchise tags passed, Hendrickson posted a farewell to the Bengals on social media:
Despite his age (31) and injury last season, Hendrickson should have a robust market in free agency next week that will keep the Bengals out of his price range, even if they wanted to get him back.
After years of tense contract back-and-forth, the Bengals briefly considered a Hendrickson tag-and-trade. The temperature at the combine and on any calls was never hot enough for the Bengals to really consider the $30.2 million risk, though.
Contract drama or not, Hendrickson finishes as one of the best free-agent signings in franchise history.
