CLEVELAND — Steven Kwan will be joining Jose Ramirez at the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Kwan was voted as an All-Star reserve for the American League, as announced on ESPN July 6. Ramirez was selected as an All-Star starter at third base.
It is Kwan’s second consecutive All-Star selection and the second consecutive year he and Ramirez are both All-Stars.
Pitchers and All-Star reserves were voted in by a combination of a player vote and selections from the commissioner’s office. Starters were voted in via a fan vote.
“Yeah, it’s big [to be voted in by my peers],” Kwan said. “You play this game every day against the guys who are doing the same thing. I think you form a level of respect with those guys, and to get the respect and their vote, that means everything to me. It just emboldens me to continue playing the game the way I do and hopefully keep the consistency going.”
Entering a 7-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers in 10 innings on July 6, Kwan was hitting .293 with a .354 on-base percentage with six home runs, 19 doubles, 26 RBIs and 11 stolen bases while being a favorite to repeat as a Gold Glove winner in left field. His 2.4 fWAR ranked fifth among American League outfielders.
“Anytime we’re in a big spot, it’s Kwan or Josey,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said of the club’s two All-Stars. “Those are our guys. There’s no secret there. It’s a lot of pressure to put on them, but they step up and they rise to the occasion and they pick the boys up.”
Kwan is the first Cleveland outfielder to earn consecutive All-Star nods since Michael Brantley in 2017-18.
When is the 2025 MLB All-Star Game?
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set for July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
