All activities are canceled until further notice at the Quirk Cultural Center, Cuyahoga Falls officials announced Feb. 4.

The city says there was an issue with natural gas service and it will work with Enbridge to repair the service line from Grant Avenue.

“We will not have heat in the building until the repair is made,” the city said.

City spokesperson Carrie Snyder said Feb. 5 the center is the only building impacted by the problem with the gas line and surrounding homes are not affected.

The needed repairs to the gas line, she said, will be the responsibility of Enbridge.

Portable electric heaters have been brought in to ensure the center does not get too cold and lead to frozen water pipes as happened over the weekend at the old Cuyahoga Falls High School.

The seasonal AARP Tax Aide program offered at the center has also been suspended.

Residents are encouraged to contact AARP directly at 330-971-8224 to reschedule appointments.
