A woman died in a crash in Delaware County after authorities allege a driver ran a red light, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The highway patrol said in a news release that a 59-year-old Florida man was driving a Chevrolet G-Series van north on State Route 3 in Berkshire Township when he failed to stop at a red light at South Galena Road.
A Honda Civic traveling east on South Galena Road hit the van, and both vehicles went off the northeast side of the intersection, according to the news release.
Medics took a passenger in the Honda Civic, Teresa D. Moore, 53, of McConnelsville, to Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to the news release. Another passenger in the Honda was taken to Riverside Medical Center in critical condition.
Medics treated the van driver for injuries at the scene.
Moore was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the highway patrol said.
The highway patrol did not say whether charges would be filed against the van driver. The crash remains under investigation.
