The NFL reviewed the altercation between Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey on Nov. 16 and has decided to enforce a one-game suspension on Chase, according to a press release from the NFL.
Chase is appealing his suspension, a source told The Enquirer.
This comes in response to Chase spitting on Ramsey and violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Chase denied spitting on Ramsey following the game when local reporters asked what transpired on the field at Acrisure Stadium. A video from FOX19’s Austin Briski surfaced later in the evening showing Chase did in fact spit on Ramsey.
Following the game, Ramsey said Chase spit on him and that’s what made him throw a punch at the Bengals’ wide receiver. Ramsey was thrown out of the game by the referees.
Chase is Cincinnati’s best offensive player and the team will not have him when they host the New England Patriots on Nov. 23 at Paycor Stadium. The Bengals have lost their last three games and will now try to beat one of the AFC’s best teams this year without their top weapon.
